Vietnam War Ceasefire Sandstone Coaster. The Vietnam War Ceasefire design was created in the U.S.A. to thank and honor Vietnam Veterans from all of the Armed Forces, and to recognize their sacrifices made. 2,709,918 Americans served in Vietnam and everyone was touched in some way by the war. 58,479 Americans gave their lives in service of their country during the war. Beginning on 27 January 1973 at midnight, there would be an in-place ceasefire of the Vietnam War. U.S. troops (along with other non-Vietnamese soldiers) would begin to withdraw, with withdrawal to be complete within 60 days. Simultaneously, U.S. prisoners of war would be released and allowed to return home. This design honors the service - and remembers the sacrifice of all Americans who served in the Vietnam War.
